A perfect Gift

John Scott's head stone is finally after months of procrastination of making everything set in stone....literally. We had Larkin Mortuary help us with us with it, they seem to be the best at everything these days. Brians Cousin Layne works up there at their vault company so he told Brian that he could come & set the stone with him. Brian was very , very excited to be able to to this himself.
We decided on the design & made it finnal last thursday....yes you heard me right, as in 4 days prior. Finalized on thursday and in the ground on Monday. Talk about some serious speed
I thought it would be fun to document the process
On the bottom of the front, it says this
"most people only dream about angelswe held on in our arms"
The stone is called "Blue Pearl"
in these pictures it looks grey, but in the sun, it sparkles a deep blue, its breathtaking in the sun

Here is Brian, digging a whole in the ground for the base to sit in

We had the artist carve his hands & feet prints into stone, she did a great job keeping them to his true life size

Wave of Light Remembrance Day

In Remembrance of

John Scott Lowder January
&
Baby Lowder (Twins)
October 15th, was a national day of remembrance for pregnancy loss as well as infant loss and also the wave of light. We lit our candle along with all the other parents accross the world and burned them for 1 hour. By the time everyone burned their candles for 1 hour, there was a continuous wave of light for 24 hours to mark the day. We greatful to be able to participate in this special day...I often wondered how many candles there were burning accross the world.

SHARE Remembrance Walk

In Remembrance of
John Scott Lowder January
&
Baby Lowder (Twins)

Saturday was the SHARE Remembrance walk up in Salt Lake, the artist of the book "Christmas box Angel" ( Authour is Richard Paul Evans)came & spoke to us, as well as his wife. They lost a child many years ago while they were living in Hawaii. A couple of years ago, the Author of the book contacted him to ask if he would do the artwork as well as the 4 foot sculpture of the angel that sits in Salt Lake Cemetery.
There are many angels all over the country now, they are absolutely breathtaking and offer a great amount of peace and comfort to greiving parents who have lost childeren. After they spoke we did a balloon release, Brian and I wrote the names of our babies on the balloons first and then released them into the sky.

Monday

Remembrance Walk

IN REMEMBRANCE OF OUR BEAUTIFUL SON
JOHN SCOTT LOWDER
JANUARY 5,2008

Today was the Remembrance Walk for the common Bonds Support Group. The group gathered at Thanksgiving Point gardens for breakfast. They read off all the names of the babies and then we had a moment of silence to remember all of them. It was such a peacefull experience, to be surrounded by others that support you and understand what you are going through.
Afterwards, we all walked the gardens, I never realized how beautiful they were and what a great place to come for peace.

Tuesday

Our little dragonfly

The Dragonfly
Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads,
there lived a little water beetle in a community of water beetles.
They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond
with few disturbances and interruptions. Once in a while
sadness would come to the community when one of their fellow
beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad
and would never be seen again.
They knew when this happened; their friend was dead, gone forever.
Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge to climb up that stem.
However, he was determined that he would not leave forever.
He would come back and tell his friends what he had found at the top.
When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the surface of the lily pad,
he was so tired, and the sun felt so warm, that he decided he must take a nap.
As he slept, his body changed and when he woke up,
he had turned into a beautiful blue-tailed dragonfly
with broad wings and a slender body designed for flying.
So, fly he did!
And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole new world and a far superior way
of life to what he had never known existed. Then he remembered his
beetle friends and how they were thinking by now he was dead.
He wanted to go back to tell them, and explain to them that he was now
more alive than he had ever been before. His life had been fulfilled
rather than ended. But, his new body would not go down into the
water. He could not get back to tell his friends the good news.
Then he understood that their time would come, when they, too,
would know what he now knew. So, he raised his wings and flew
off into his joyous new life!

154 Miles dedicated to John Scott

John Scott's due date was April 19, which just happen to fall on the day of the Salt Lake 1/2 marathon. We decided that the best thing we could do to celebrate is do run this race in honor of him. Brian and I designed these race bibs for everyone to wear over their shirts. I was excited that they turned out so well!

Brian and I can not even to begin to thank everyone enough. You were all there for us, and for that we will never forget any of you. I coul'd make a list but it would be pages long, so just know we remember you.

A perfect keepsake

This is the beautiful program that was made for the memorial service be a very good friend. We wanted everyone to be able to keep something to remember his short and sweet life, and this did the job.

A beautiful farewell

After the memorial and the dedication of the grave, We let off balloons up into the sky. As I watched them float up, I thought his little spirit floating up with them to our heavenly father. I will never forget this incredible experience.

A special gown and ring

Brian and I were able to dress John Scott in his white gown before the viewing. The white gown was made just for him by his great-grandmother. There was also a gold ring for his finger, made by his grandfather. Each item has a very special meaning and special stories. After the funeral, we kept the gold ring and put it on a chain that I wear around my neck so that I will always have him with me.

A picture is worth a thousands words

We were so blessed to be able to have pictures of our familiy taken before the funeral. We will always be able have these photographs to look at for memories. Some ask if it was hard, But we really don't even remember the camera being there. I think that we were just focused on looking at our beautiful baby as long as we could.

Friday

All the Pretty Flowers

When Brian and I came home from the hospital we were greeted with a housefull of flowers. We counted a totall of 15 vases of flowers. We felt so fortunate to have such great family and friends that were there to support us.
